Fuck me, less than an hour ago I published my new article Celebrity Paedophiles. In that article I make mention that Coronation Street seems to yield a lot of deviants. That many in fact, I cant fucking keep up with them.
COPS yesterday charged Coronation Street star Andrew Lancel with five counts of sexually abusing a child.
The actor, 42 — Frank Foster in the ITV1 soap — was accused of indecent assault on a victim under 16.
Married Lancel was bailed by Merseyside police to face court this month.
Yesterday the former star of The Bill refused to comment.
He was tightlipped as he took his dogs for a walk — hours after being charged.
The grim-faced actor — who will appear in court days before Christmas — clutched their leads as he left his £400,000 home after being freed on police bail.
Lancel, known to millions as scheming Coronation Street businessman Frank, faces five counts of indecently assaulting a child.
He was yesterday charged with the “historic” offences — believed to date back to his trainee actor days — under his real name Andrew Watkinson.
After leaving a Liverpool area police station he returned to the luxury Merseyside home he shares with wife Louise — then emerged briefly with his dogs.
His lawyer later insisted the star “strenuously denies the allegations”.
Solicitor Stuart Nolan said: “Mr Lancel was invited by police to co-operate with an inquiry by one complainant about events that allegedly took place over 20 years ago.
“He is confident his innocence will be established in the fullness of time.”
Police said the actor — who for 15 years starred in cop show The Bill — was charged under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.
His alleged crimes were “five offences of indecent assault on a child under 16”.
A spokesman for the Merseyside force confirmed: “Andrew Watkinson, 42, was charged with the offences.”
Lancel’s Corrie character Frank was killed off in March — murdered in a whodunit that saw his screen mum Anne eventually confess to the crime.
Last year fans were gripped as Frank was sensationally cleared of raping fiancee Carla Connor, played by Alison King.
Lancel joined the soap after a decade and a half as Detective Inspector Neil Manson in The Bill.
His current role in a play in Liverpool called Epstein: The Man Who Made The Beatles ended last night.
He is due to appear at South Sefton Magistrates’ Court on December 19.
He is the second Street star to face child sex allegations in the last 12 months.
Michael LeVell, alias Kevin Webster, was arrested on suspicion of abusing a schoolgirl in her teens.
He was bailed twice during an inquiry that was dropped — and later told how he went through “hell”.
